Frequently Asked Questions

All homeware from Turnaround Ceramics is handmade by myself in my studio just outside of Bristol. Pots are pulled on the wheel, the form is then refined and glazed. The work is all made of high fire stoneware which results in a robust piece, ready to be used everyday

I always work with high fire stoneware and fire to 1250°c, this means all items are hard wearing and can be used in the oven and microwave. The glazes I use are all food safe and dishwasher friendly. However if you are concerned about keeping them in the best condition, then hand washing is preferable.
-
Yes! All my pieces are food safe and can be put in the dishwasher and microwave. I use commercially available glazes that have been tested for food safety and acid resistance so I can be confident they are up for everyday use.
-
Yes, as far as possible! I have made sure that any packaging used is recyclable, biodegradable or recycled.
The packing peanuts I use are dissolvable, boxes are cardboard and tape is kraft based. On occasion I will use plastic bubble wrap which has been repurposed from other sources. Please reuse if you can.

I have been taking classes since 2018 with the wonderful Brenda at The Pottery Shed in Winterbourne.
I had always wanted to try ceramics and once I did, I never stopped.
Brenda has great skills on the wheel, hand building and decorating. You never stop learning a skill like pottery, there are just too many things to discover!
